Kyle Maestas, PA-C, is a nationally certified physician’s assistant with over six year's orthopedic specialist experience and additional year's experience in healthcare including providing primary care/family medicine in rural areas including Native American communities of all ages. He also served as Director of Operations for COVID-19 efforts among Native American communities for the Pueblo of Pojoaque Buffalo Thunder Resort including coordination of sheltering, mass testing and delivery of vaccination during the height of the pandemic.


Prior to working as a physician assistant, Kyle began his healthcare career in 2001 serving his community as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Jicarilla Apache Nation prior to starting his studies in nursing. His registered nurse career started in 2007 working initially at San Juan Regional Medical Center before relocating to Albuquerque serving time with Lovelace Medical Center. It was during his time at Lovelace Medical Center that he gained experience in the operating room which led him to pursue the Primary Care Associate Program at Stanford School of Medicine. Kyle then pursued his Master of Medical Science Degree from Saint Francis University which focused on cultural awareness and cultural competence in the healthcare setting to improve delivery of medicine to underserved and marginalized communities.


Kyle was born in New Mexico and holds deep roots with Native American heritage as he was raised on the Jicarilla Apache Nation nestled in northern New Mexico. He is a tribal member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation. Kyle's affinity for participating in sports including football, mixed martial arts and snowboarding has fueled his passion in orthopedics. He has served as associate Team Provider for the New Mexico Gladiator football club and assists local amateur and professional mixed martial arts fighters in his spare time.
